Day 18: Bhaktapur

We had our final breakfast and then finished up packing till our closing meeting with Megan and a surgeon at the the hospital. We chatted a bit about the project itself but also a lot about the trip in general. They served us tea, per usual, and then once we were done we headed back up to grab a small lunch at the hospital before leaving for our flight around noon. We got to the Pokhara airport around 12:30 then which in this case was way too early for our 1:20 flight. While we waited, some of us got talking to this Indian woman sitting near us. She was telling us all about her trip as well as a few things from back at home. After about a 30 minute delay, we boarded the little plane to Kathmandu. Travis once again was able to be moved to the front of the plane where he'd have more legroom. We arrived in Kathmandu and took two taxis over to our hotel in Bhaktapur. After setting our stuff down in our rooms Van Dyke took us to get the King of Curds yogurt he had been telling us about. It was pretty good and some of us got seconds while Van Dyke was gone buying our tickets for the Durbar Square. After grabbing rooftop snacks, we went into Durbar Square to tour around the temples and shops. Travis, Thomas, Cai, and I passed a soccer ball around with some kids who were already playing there. Then we were given a tour of a painting shop and it was amazing to see how much detail they put into it all. After a few more pictures and wandering around, we finally found the restaurant we were looking for for dinner. After dinner, the plan was to play games but once we got back to the hotel, we decided to just get good hot showers and head to bed.
