The official start of our trip has begun. Most of us met at Messiah Saturday afternoon and then headed out for our flight in Newark at 3:00pm ET. We all met at the airport around 6:00pm but ran into complications with our agency and couldn't get our bags checked for another 2 hours. But we made it through security in good time after that and boarded our 12.5 hour flight to Dubai with time to spare. We spent most of the flight watching movies and trying to sleep. Some were more successful at the latter than others. We got to Dubai around 7:00pm local time and sorted out the rest of our ticket troubles. After that was settled, we found a place to eat and scouted out the most comfortable chairs we could find to sleep until our flight at 1:30am local time. We loaded onto a packed bus which took us directly to the plane we'd be taking to Kathmandu. We caught our first sights of the Himalayas and of Kathmandu from the plane window early that morning and landed in Nepal around 7:15am local time.
